i acknowledge that this is incredibly true for many white people. but this makes me feel erased because i have pretty hefty cherokee heritage in addition to my european heritage, and i can prove it. but whenever i tell people that, especially natives, they laugh at me and think to themselves (and sometimes even say to me), “oh, sweetie, every white person thinks they’re cherokee.” (sometimes, they even throw in the “cherokee princess” bit. who the fuck said anything about royalty?) um, NO. i don’t “think” i’m cherokee; my great grandmother was cherokee, as well as my great grandfather on my other side. so just fuck off and let my identity exist, the same way i do for everyone else. you are high off your ass if you think you know who i am better than i do.

I think you missed the memo that this was a joke. Also, if you KNOW you’re Cherokee, this shouldn’t offend you. No one is telling you that your identity doesn’t exist. So you can FUCK off (you cussed at me first).

soooo is it just me, or has the fun tumblr controversy not extended to anyone’s identities being erased or whatever other than ppl who have cherokee ancestry? WHERE ARE ALL THE ERASED BLACKFEET AND CHOCTAW?!!? hehehe.

also, what happened to an appreciation of native humor? sad day.

UGGHHHHH. I got over $200 in fucking overdraft fees for less than five dollars worth of purchases, TWICE. Bank of America can fuck off and die. And doing everything through cash and money orders sucks, though I’ve never been charged $8 for a check cashing fee. But all these little fees you pay every time you get a check to cash or have to pay rent or electric or all of these little things that want a check add up.
